Forum: etree Subject: I love the LMA but it has a couple errors I keep running into.

When I import shows, the text files don't pick up correctly on certain song titles with punctuation or numbers.

For instance, when I am importing shows by "my new favorite old band" CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN, I get two typical errors on their song titles which illustrate the issues I am having. .. .to wit. . .

"(I Was So) Wasted" imports to the FILE OPTIONS page as "I Was So) Wasted" which is missing the first parenthesis "("

and

"51-7" is omitted entirely, with the remaining song titles shifted upwards by one, and the final song's title being filled in with duplicate info from the first track.

hmm.

My other beef is that lately, most of the fields are blank
and I have to fill them in, although I have the content handy in the info.txt file. . . it would just be really keen if I could dial in the import process and I am stumped on a couple of things.

As always, BIG THANKS to the curatorial staff here for all their good work!!

Someday this will be improved, but right now these issues are considered low priority for our small staff of web engineers. They spend most of their time improving larger back end features.

A tip to help avoid having to fill in too many fields - keep the info file formatted like this and it should come very close to having the correct song titles (unless one of the songs is just numbers like "313"):
=========
Band Name
Date
Venue
City, State

Source
Transfer
Taped by

Disc 1, Set 1:
01. Song 1
02. Song 2
03. Song 3

Disc 2, Set 2:
01. Song 1
02. Song 2
03. Song 3

Disc 3. Set 2:
01. Song 1
02. Song 2
03. Song 3

Notes
========

Alright Brad, thanks for the tips, I will see if I can get a perfect import. I agree that these are small things and that the engineers should focus on more important issues.

For the time being, I think the workaround for the NUMBERS AS NAMES issue is to simply type out 51-7 as FIFTYONE-SEVEN for the import, then go back and edit it to the numerical title after filling in the FILE OPTIONS section.

Hi,

wrt numbers as names, I'm seeing that numbers by themself is OK. For example

219 works fine. However, the correct name is
2:19 which breaks in the manor you are seeing with 51-7.

Which tells me it's not the number but the punctuation.

Brad, in your format example it doesn't have the "Transferred by" line. I've been using the format you have and it works 99% of the time, but never picks up the name of the person who did the transfer. No big problem. The rest of it works pretty smoothly IMHO.

Thanks,

-Jim
